If you have a blog or website that sells products or you’re an affiliate marketer, then chances are you’re getting emails with questions about those products. If you’re getting questions then don’t let your product pages sit there and not get updated.
Keep a lists of the questions you get. Is there an overall pattern to the questions? Do you keep getting asked the same question over and over again? Are you getting all different types of questions?
If you answer yes to any of these then you need to update and clarify your product pages.
If you keep getting the same questions over and over again, it could be an easy update to the product page that simply explains the obvious.
Maybe someone’s asking about the color of your product. You might consider adding a description of the color next to the photo of the product. Or possibly the photo was taken in poor lighting. Check out your product photo on several other monitors to see how it looks. If it looks bad, get new images.
If you’re getting all different types of questions this could be a clue that your entire product page needs a rewrite. If you decide to rewrite the copy, make sure you take into account all the questions you’ve been getting. Work the answers to these questions into the copy itself.
And while your updating, keep in mind SEO. Every update you make to a page is a chance to improve your SEO (search engine optimization). Those common questions you’re getting asked are probably tied to keywords that your potential customer is using when thinking about your product. Work those keywords in to your advantage.
With continual improvements, updates and additions to your product pages you’ll notice not only an increase in conversions, but a decrease in the amount of questions you get by email. Less time replying to email results in more time marketing your products.
Update:
Moments after writing and publishing this post I came across an article on Hot Blog Tips titled “Sam Says!”: Connect with Your Audience. Before you decide to do any type of rewrite or update from FAQ’s as I mentioned above, head over to the “Sam Say’s” article and take a few minutes to read it. It’s a great article filled with really good tips.
