Yesterday I transitioned my online store homepage from the Easy Slider script to the Ultimate Fade-in script. The Easy Slider script scrolls or slides the pics as most scripts for slideshows do. There was nothing wrong with it, I was just getting tired of seeing the scrolling effect every time I checked on my stores homepage. The other day I had visited the new Carbonfund.org homepage and immediately liked the fade-in slideshow they were using. I went in and took a peek at their code and that’s when I found they were using the Ultimate Fade-in slideshow.
The original Easy Slider script I was using has gone through several versions with the latest being v1.7. While inserting the script into the page is straightforward, I did spend some time with the next and previous buttons. For some reason I had a hell of a time getting them positioned correctly on the screen next to the slideshow. Overall though, the Easy Slider plugin works great. I would recommend it for anyone that wants a slideshow where the images scroll left/right or horizontally/vertically.
After visiting the CarbonFund homepage though, I couldn’t get it out of my head. I decided to go ahead and update my online store homepage to the updated version of Ultimate Fade-in slideshow by Dynamic Drive. This script creates a fade in slideshow instead of the typical slider. The Ultimate Fade-in script was very easy to work with… mainly because I didn’t have to mess with positioning the next and previous buttons. In fact, with this script the next and previous buttons are optional. I choose not to use them and just have the slideshow fade-in from one image to the next. Along with being able to adjust the image display time and transition time, there are several other adjustments that are easily made in the script. I highly recommend this script for anyone looking for a fade-in type script for slideshows.
